Star Placement Formulas
An Tian Fu Zhu Xing Jue
Used in Zi Wei Dou Shu to determine the position of the Tian Fu Star.
In the system of Zi Wei Dou Shu, the "An Tian Fu Zhu Xin Jue" is an important rule for arranging the Tian Fu star and related stars, playing a crucial role in constructing a complete natal chart. The mnemonic is: "Tian Fu Tai Yin flows clockwise, Tan Lang Ju Men move in reverse, Tian Xiang Tian Liang and Qi Sha, three apart, Po Jun is the end." This means that the related stars are arranged in a clockwise direction in the sequence of Po Jun, Qi Sha, Tian Liang, Tian Xiang, Ju Men, Tan Lang, Tai Yin, Tian Fu. Additionally, the Zi Wei star and Tian Fu star are symmetrically distributed along the "Yin-Shen" line.
The following is an understanding of each line of the mnemonic:
- "Tian Fu Tai Yin flows clockwise": This means that after determining the position of the Tian Fu star on the natal chart, the Tai Yin star is immediately adjacent in a clockwise direction. The Tai Yin star is associated with calmness, concealment, gentleness, meticulousness, and introspection, often related to personal emotional world, inner thoughts, and hidden fortune developments. This line indicates the relative position and arrangement direction of the Tian Fu star and Tai Yin star on the natal chart.
- "Tan Lang Ju Men move in reverse": "Move in reverse" here refers to the counterclockwise direction opposite to the clockwise arrangement of the Tian Fu star and Tai Yin star. After the Tai Yin star, the Tan Lang star and Ju Men star are arranged in a counterclockwise direction. The Tan Lang star is full of desire and vitality, representing pursuits in material, emotional, and other aspects, with strong initiative and variability; the Ju Men star is associated with disputes and eloquence, its position may bring influences in speech, either being persuasive or prone to disputes.
- "Tian Xiang Tian Liang and Qi Sha, three apart, Po Jun is the end": Continuing counterclockwise from the Ju Men star, are the Tian Xiang star, Tian Liang star, and Qi Sha star. "Three apart, Po Jun is the end" indicates that after the Qi Sha star, three positions away is the Po Jun star, which is the last of the stars arranged in this counterclockwise group. The Tian Xiang star is like a prime minister, capable of coordination and assistance, reflecting one's coordination ability in interpersonal relationships and career cooperation; the Tian Liang star has a stable and blessed characteristic, often associated with support from benefactors, elders' assistance, and personal principles; the Qi Sha star represents decisiveness and determination, indicating one's courage and decisiveness in facing difficulties and making decisions; the Po Jun star symbolizes breaking the old and establishing the new, indicating changes, breakthroughs, and innovations in the natal chart.
From the perspective of specific star characteristics, the Tian Fu star is regarded as the "wealth treasury," symbolizing stability, inclusiveness, and storage, and its position on the natal chart often suggests one's ability to accumulate wealth, inner stability, and adaptability to life. The Tai Yin star is calm and concealed, with gentle, meticulous, and introspective characteristics, often related to one's emotional world, inner thoughts, and hidden fortune developments. The Tan Lang star is full of desire and vitality, representing pursuits in material, emotional, and other aspects, with strong initiative and variability. The Ju Men star is associated with disputes and eloquence, its position may bring influences in speech, either being persuasive or prone to disputes. The Tian Xiang star is like a prime minister, capable of coordination and assistance, reflecting one's coordination ability in interpersonal relationships and career cooperation. The Tian Liang star has stable and blessed characteristics, often associated with support from benefactors, elders' assistance, and personal principles. The Qi Sha star represents decisiveness and determination, indicating one's courage and decisiveness in facing difficulties and making decisions. The Po Jun star symbolizes breaking the old and establishing the new, indicating changes, breakthroughs, and innovations in the natal chart.
For example, if in a person's natal chart, the Tian Fu star falls in the Wealth Palace, with the Tai Yin star assisting nearby, it suggests that the person is stable in wealth management, adept at accumulation, with a meticulous nature, and may have unique insights in investment and financial management. If the Tan Lang star falls in the Life Palace and resonates with the Tian Fu star, it may indicate that the person has a strong desire for progress and understands the importance of acting prudently at the right time, seizing opportunities.
The "An Tian Fu Zhu Xin Jue" provides astrologers and enthusiasts with a basis for interpreting various aspects of personal destiny, character, career, and emotions through the specific arrangement of stars. In practical application, astrologers will combine the interactions of stars in different positions, their interactions with other stars, and the overall structure of the natal chart to comprehensively judge a person's fortune trend. However, as a traditional astrological theory, Zi Wei Dou Shu offers macro and philosophical insights into life rather than being equated with modern scientific explanations and predictions of life.
